APDT UK Good Companion Awards
From puppyhood to adolescence and beyond
The ingredients of the APDT UK Good Companion Awards are…
ONE
The APDT UK Good Companion Awards don’t just teach obedience, they focus on real-life skills. These skills help to enable dogs to become well-mannered members of society.
Guardians are assessed on their dog training skills as well as their understanding of training principles and knowledge of dog welfare, wellbeing and all-round good companionship.
Taking part in the GCAs provides an opportunity to understand and learn more about your dog and build your bond, to become companions for life.
Each level is 6 weeks long and you will learn the skills to show your dog how to:
Sit, Down, Stand and transition between them
Enjoy handling procedures
Settle
Walk to heel
Recall (with distractions)
Wait at the Door safely
Exercise control around meals
Greet people politely
Remain in a vehicle when the door is opened

Growing a well-trained companion

TWO
Many dog training courses are too short to solidify skills. Some are pay to turn up and you’re never sure who, and how many people will be there.
DogWorks courses are different. We focus on creating the optimum learning environment for both you and your companion.
Exercise progressions are carefully considered and spread over 6 weeks, giving you enough time to learn new skills and teach them to your dog, as well as iron out any problems that arise.
We will be with you every step of the way, guiding you through the process.
Your achievements are recognised at the end of the course with an APDT certificate & rosette.
Structure. Goals. Accountability
